The West Seattle Junction Summer Fest is going green! We will be partnering with Seattle Public Utilities and Bold Reuse to bring completely sustainable and reusable drinkware and dishware to the event. SPU will also be sponsoring the water stations around the event, giving you access to fresh, clean water to stay hydrated in the heat.

The number one goal for this program is to promote sustainability in West Seattle and leave a long-lasting impact on the neighborhood. By turning West Seattle’s biggest event of the year green, we hope that the guests will follow suit and continue to cut down on waste. Additionally, we expect that guests will have a smile on their face as they have fun at Summer Fest while they help the environment.

By switching to reusables, the festival is turning dozens of pounds of waste into materials that can be used for other products. Further, by going reusable, you are saving water and lowering carbon emissions. The environment is giving us a massive stamp of approval.

Best of all, this is the only major festival in Seattle that has gone completely reusable. We hope to set an example for other neighborhoods and help turn the city green.

To join the initiative, be on the lookout for marked bins stating, “Return reuse items here.” Simply drop off your reusable cups, plates and utensils and go about the rest of your day in peace.

If you need assistance in figuring out what goes where, friendly volunteers will be around to lend a hand. Along with that, Bold Reuse will be close by to check, clean, and restock these items for vendors every day.

This amazing initiative is brought to you by Reuse Seattle, a city-led partnership between Seattle Public Utilities and the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development. Since 2022, they’ve helped ditch over a million single-use cups, bowls, and plates. Join the movement and help push Seattle into becoming the greenest city in the US.
